Designation of circuits - kilometre marking system

The kilometre marking system on a total of eight lakes and the connecting route between Lake Geierswalde and Lake Senftenberg provides better orientation for cyclists, skaters and rescue services in the Lusatian Lakeland.  The kilometre posts with their orange imprints are intended to offer holidaymakers and guests greater safety on the lakeside trails and to facilitate the planning of individual routes. The name of the lake, the current kilometre, the counting direction, the total length, the circuit number (RK) and the specific GPS position are marked on the posts. The markers are placed at 500-metre intervals along the lakeside paths.

The kilometre system is currently being implemented at the following lakes. Each circular route has been assigned a circuit number (RK).

  •  RK 1: Lake Bärwalde
  • RK 2: Lake Dreiweibern
  • RK 4: Lake Scheibe
  • RK 5: Lake Bernsteinsee
  • RK 8: Lake Partwitz
  • RK 9: Lake Geierswalde
  • RK 10: Lake Senftenberg (partially)
  • RK 12: Lake Großräschen (partially)
  • Connecting route (V): Lake Geierswalde – Lake Senftenberg

With the transfer of the kilometre data to those responsible for the rescue services, it is also available to the professional rescuers as an additional tool for quickly locating the accident site and initiating assistance measures.

In the event of an emergency, please dial 112 and provide the name of the lake and the last kilometre you know. Alternatively, you can use the emergency call pillars installed at several points along the circular route.

As more lake circuits are made accessible, the kilometres will be continued.
